RIYADH: Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio have discussed the US-Iran agreement during talks on Thursday.

The two officials met during a Gulf Cooperation Council meeting in Bahrain attended by Rubio.

Their conversation covered progress made in negotiations between US and Iran toward a permanent peace deal, the importance of freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, and developments in Gaza and Lebanon.

Prince Faisal also attended a meeting between GCC foreign ministers and US officials, including Rubio.

During his tour of Gulf countries this week, Rubio repeatedly said that Iran would not be allowed to charge tolls to shipping passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
