The dramatic incident occurred on Wednesday aboard Air Canada Flight AC7664, operated by regional partner PAL Airlines, while en route from Newark, New Jersey, to Halifax, Nova Scotia.
According to Air Canada, the captain experienced a medical emergency during the flight, prompting the first officer to take control of the aircraft and divert it to Boston, where the plane landed safely.
The De Havilland Q400 aircraft was carrying 61 passengers when the incident unfolded.
