The KPMG Women’s PGA Championship tees off Thursday. All eyes are on Nelly Korda, as she chases history on and off the course.
The world’s No. 1 player won the first two majors of the year at the Chevron Championship and U.S. Women’s Open, becoming just the third LPGA player to do that in the past 40 seasons. Only Inbee Park (2013) and Babe Zaharias (1950) won the first three majors of a season, and Korda is the heavy favorite at Hazeltine National Golf Club in the Minneapolis suburbs. She is +310 to win, with Jeeno Thitikul and Ruoning Yin next at +1500, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
Korda finished third the last time the Women’s PGA Championship was held at Hazeltine in 2019.
With a win this week, Korda would complete the career Grand Slam and would qualify for the LPGA Hall of Fame at 27 years old. She is two points shy of the 27 needed, with each major worth two points; Lydia Ko was a few months younger than Korda is now when she became the youngest to make the LPGA Hall in 2024.
The other historical milestone sitting in front of Korda is the LPGA’s career earnings record held by Annika Sörenstam, who largely retired from the game in 2008. Korda sits $1.1 million behind Sörenstam’s $22.6 million record..
