As Bafana Bafana prepare for the biggest match in their history, coach Hugo Broos is prepafring to thrown a protective shield around his squad to ensure that outside criticism does not derail South Africa's Fifa World Cup dream.

The Belgian mentor has spent much of the tournament insulating his players from the noise that often accompanies major international competitions, particularly after the criticism that followed his team selection and the disappointing opening defeat to Mexico a fortnight ago.

Broos has never been one to bow to public pressure and, with a last 32 clash against co-hosts Canada looming on Sunday in Los Angeles, he made it clear after beating South Korea 1-0 on Thursday morning that neither social media nor self-appointed football experts will influence his thinking.

"I'm nearly 40-years a coach, and there's a side of the job of criticism, and for those who don't know, I do things my way, and I never listen to the trash of social media," said Broos.
