Dean Cooper has shared his unique method for keeping his rooms cool during the June heatwave - and all you need is two common household items to ensure a 'better sleep' too12:05, 25 Jun 2026A Brit has revealed his ingenious approach to tackling the unprecedented June heatwave - using two everyday household items to rapidly cool down his bedroom, which he insists guarantees him a "better sleep". With yet another hot and humid night forecast this evening, any assistance we can find in nodding off is surely worth an attempt. While Dean Cooper's strategy is somewhat unconventional, it evidently does the trick for him. "If you don't want to be hot tonight, use this simple trick involving a duvet and a fan to make your room cool to sleep in," he began in a TikTok clip."No matter what the weather is like outside, you can make a perfect, tranquil, cool little cave to sleep in for the night."Content cannot be displayed without consentFirst, Dean turned on his fan, which sat positioned on top of a chest of drawers beside his bed.He then took hold of an empty duvet cover, before directing its opening towards the fan and letting it fill with air.As the cool air swirled inside, Dean then rather unusually climbed in himself, fashioning a cocoon-style shelter around his body. "I may have just accidentally built air conditioning for people who don't have air conditioning," he declaredThe Cornwall resident continued: "Now the thing is, you end up in a giant balloon, but it will stay open while you're in it - and if it doesn't you can use a stick or a broom handle and just attach it to the front of the fan."Regarding the air circulation, Dean highlighted that it is "circular", which meant he could lie in a "constant fresh breeze"."You end up in a giant cooling tunnel with air circulating all around you," he exclaimed. "It's ridiculous. It looks ridiculous. But when it's roasting hot outside, I don't care."And if you've got heart issues, blood pressure problems, or you're just melting into the mattress tonight, give it a try."What's more, Dean revealed the children love it and play inside during the daytime under supervision, and it remains up throughout the night until you eventually climb out and switch the fan off.Article continues belowHe concluded: "To me, having this is a great way to make sure through the hot weather you don't struggle."Responding to the video, one TikTok user advised: "Brilliant idea, but you really shouldn't sleep with a fan directly pointing at you as it can give you muscle fatigue. Love the idea though. To which Dean replied: "Thanks for the comment. I sleep like this (not in the bag but with the fan all year round). t some how helps keep my night palpitations away. If it's to cold I take a cover inside with me. It's like a bed in a bed in a wind tunnel."
