Wrexham will head to Cardiff City for a mouth-watering all-Wales clash to kick-off their Championship season. The showdown in the capital, which will take place at 8pm on Monday August 17 and be broadcast live on Sky Sports, is the first of two trips to south Wales inside the opening few weeks with Phil Parkinson’s side tackling Swansea City on September 5.Wrexham have also been handed two visits to the English capital in their opening four away fixtures – Millwall on September 2 and West Ham United ten days later – to ensure a tough start to the 2026-27 campaign on the road.Things won’t be much easier on home soil with Watford the first visitors to The Racecourse Ground in the Championship on August 22, followed a week later by Birmingham City.Newly relegated Burnley and Southampton also head to north Wales before the first international break, the latter fixture on September 19 likely to have added spice after the south coast club’s exclusion from the play-offs following the Spygate saga.Unlike previous seasons, there will be two international breaks in the autumn, the first lasting three weeks.Christmas is relatively kind to Wrexham, certainly in terms of distances covered with Boxing Day bringing a trip to Stoke City, followed by home games against Blackburn Rovers and Bolton Wanderers on December 29 and January 1 respectively.
