The Lagos State Police Command has arrested and arraigned a man identified as Emeka Joseph over allegations of domestic violence and assault following public outrage sparked by a viral video showing a young woman with visible injuries.
The Command disclosed that the suspect has been charged in court and remanded in the Kirikiri Correctional Centre pending further proceedings.
In a statement posted on its official X handle, the police said the arrest followed investigations into allegations that Joseph physically assaulted Ezeka Chisom, a woman with whom he had been cohabiting.
According to the police, preliminary findings confirmed that the victim sustained injuries to her face during the assault.
“The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a suspect in connection with a case of assault occasioning harm and domestic violence following a viral video in which there was a report that Emeka Joseph assaulted Ezeka Chisom,” the statement read.
