I am very worried about the sharp clash between Ukraine and Poland due to their painful common history. Therefore I would like to talk about that, because Lithuanians are very close to that topic.
Brief context. The current lands of Western Ukraine have a different history than Eastern Ukraine. Here, in the first half of the 20th century and after World War II, the interests of Ukrainians and Poles clashed.
It was similar in my country, where Lithuanians and Poles sought the same thing – to establish themselves in the Vilnius region. There were bloody battles.
In Ukraine, this happened on a particularly large scale. Unfortunately, to this day both sides have their own historical versions, both sides have very different views on the same leaders of the battles of that time on both sides.
What Ukrainians consider heroes, Poles consider enemies and criminals.
