India’s next wave of AI innovation is not just emerging from research labs or large enterprises.

It is being built by students, startups, indie developers, and working professionals trying to solve practical problems across agriculture, healthcare, education, retail, and public services.

That was the larger takeaway from the AI for Bharat Hackathon, launched by Amazon Web Services (AWS) with innovation partner Hack2Skill and media partner YourStory.

Over the past few months, the nationwide initiative brought together developers from across the country to build AI-powered applications using enterprise-grade AWS cloud and GenAI tools.

The hackathon unfolded in two phases.
