CARACAS, June 25. /TASS/. The Venezuelan capital of Caracas was at the epicenter of Wednesday's earthquake, which caused heavy damage to infrastructure, Venezuelan journalist Jeison Rauseo told Peru's RPP radio station.

"Caracas suffered significant damage from the earthquake," he said. "Reports of damage continue to emerge from the central part of the country and farther west. In addition to Caracas, the city of Valencia has also sustained extensive damage," the journalist added.

The earthquake struck Venezuela on Wednesday night, with two tremors measuring magnitudes 7.2 and 7.5 recorded within 40 seconds of each other. The epicenters were located in the state of Yaracuy state, ten kilometers apart.
