WASHINGTON, June 25. /TASS/. The US Geological Survey (USGS) has lowered its estimate of potential damage from the earthquake in Venezuela to between 1 and 5% of the country’s GDP.

The previous forecast put potential losses from 2 to 20% of GDP.

The earthquake struck Venezuela on Wednesday evening, with two series of shocks with magnitudes 7.2 and 7.5 within 40 seconds. Their epicenters were located ten kilometers apart in the state of Yaracuy.
