Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (Bescom) has urged consumers to apply for permanent power supply by July 6, 2026, for residential buildings that have been granted a one-time exemption from obtaining an Occupancy Certificate (OC). The exemption applies to buildings with a ground floor plus three floors or stilt parking plus four floors, constructed on sites measuring up to 2,400 sq. ft. (with an allowable deviation of up to 20%) within Bescom’s jurisdiction. It is applicable only to buildings completed on or before May 31, 2026.The appeal follows the State government’s decision on Monday to grant a one-time relaxation permitting permanent electricity connections to residential buildings constructed without an OC on plots of up to 2,400 sq. ft. Applicants have been asked to submit their applications within 15 days.Applicants can visit their nearest Bescom sub-division office or visit the Bescom online website and apply within the deadline to avail the benefit. Bescom offices will remain open on public holidays, including June 26 on Muharram, June 27 (fourth Saturday), June 28 (Sunday) and July 5 (Sunday).GuidelinesFor pending applications for permanent power connections, Bescom has asked building owners to provide the application number and date, along with a geo-tagged photograph of the building showing the owner standing in front of it. The details must be submitted to the Bescom officer concerned to avail of a permanent connection.Owners who have not yet applied for a connection and are currently using temporary connections, as well as those without either a temporary or permanent connection, must submit an application for a permanent connection. They are also required to furnish a geo-tagged photograph of the building along with the owner.
