Giving effect to the announcement made by Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar during his maiden Cabinet briefing, the State government has issued an order exempting residential buildings up to Ground+3 floors or Stilt Parking+4 floors constructed on plots measuring up to 2,400 sq. ft from obtaining Occupancy Certificates (OCs) for electricity connections within the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) limits.The order, issued on June 5, grants a one-time exemption to such buildings, with a 20% variation limit, provided they were completed and had applied for electricity connections on or before May 31, 2026.Mr. Shivakumar had announced the OC exemption for homeowners and a One-Time Settlement scheme for residential properties.The government had earlier exempted residential buildings up to Ground+2 floors or Stilt+3 floors constructed on plots measuring up to 1,200 sq. ft from obtaining OCs.According to the latest order, electricity supply companies have been directed to conduct site inspections, photograph and document the buildings, and verify that they satisfy the prescribed conditions before providing electricity connections.
