The BBC made a very exciting announcement about The Other Bennet Sister on Wednesday17:16, 24 Jun 2026Updated 17:32, 24 Jun 2026The Other Bennet Sister is set to return to screens this year.‌The hit period drama, which premiered earlier this year to much acclaim, will air a three-part Christmas special in December.‌Screenwriter Sarah Quintrell, who wrote nine of the ten episodes of the series, will return to write all three episodes, which will be based on storylines by author Janice Hadlow. Asim Abbasi, who directed five episodes of the series, will also be back to direct.‌The series, which will shoot primarily in Wales this summer, will see Ella Bruccoleri reprise her role as Mary Bennet, with a host of other familiar faces from the series also set to return.Fans were left speechless after learning the news, with one person writing on Instagram: "I am SCREAMING. Best news ever." Another added: "THIS IS THE BEST NEWS OMG OMG," while a third said: "Looking forward to Christmas! Can't wait!"‌The series notably followed Mary Bennet, the oft-overlooked middle sister in Pride and Prejudice as she navigated the societal pressures of Regency England, where marriage is both aspiration and necessity.The final episode of the series, which aired in April, saw Mary agreeing to marry Tom Hayward (Dónal Finn), and fans will be keen to know what adventures await the couple.The series was the biggest launch of a new drama across all platforms and streamers in the UK since May 2025, with 7.3 million viewers watching in its first 28 days.
