“The Other Bennet Sister” is set to return to BritBox and the BBC this year for a three-episode Christmas special.

Sarah Quintrell, who penned nine out of the 10 episodes of the acclaimed “Pride & Prejudice” spinoff series, is writing all three parts based on storylines by author Janice Hadlow. Series director Asim Abbasi is also returning.

The special is set to shoot in Wales this summer and will feature Ella Bruccoleri as Mary, the titular other Bennet sister, alongside other familiar faces from the series. Based on Hadlow’s novel of the same name, the show follows the oft-overlooked middle sister in the Bennet family as she navigates the societal pressures of Regency-era England.

When it premiered earlier this year, “The Other Bennet Sister” broke records for BritBox in the U.S. and Canada, driving five times more new subscribers to the streamer in its first five weeks than any other series and helping it achieve the strongest quarter yet in terms of subscriber growth. Over in the U.K., the show had the biggest launch for a new drama across all platforms since May 2025, garnering 7.3 million viewers in its first 28 days.

“The Other Bennet Sister” is produced by Bad Wolf for BritBox North America and the BBC. The special was commissioned by Lindsay Salt, director of BBC Drama, for BBC iPlayer and BBC One and Jon Farrar, chief content officer of direct to consumer at BBC Studios, for BritBox North America. The executive producers are Kate Crowther, Becca Kinder and Jane Tranter for Bad Wolf, Rebecca Ferguson for the BBC, Robert Schildhouse, Farrar and Jess O’Riordan for BritBox, Quintrell and Hadlow. The series has been developed and overseen by Bad Wolf’s managing director Dan McCulloch and chief creative officer Ryan Rasmussen.
