Colombia is heading to the knockout rounds of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. A 1-0 victory over DR Congo in their Group K clash on June 24 secured advancement with a game still to play, and it took just one moment of quality to get there.
Daniel Muñoz found the back of the net in the 76th minute. The result gives Colombia six points from two group matches, placing them atop Group K heading into their final fixture.
A historic run takes shape
This is only the fourth time Colombia has reached the knockout stage of a World Cup.
After the match, Lorenzo praised his team’s attacking variety and their composure under pressure. Colombia now needs just a draw against Portugal to finish first in Group K.
