Priced out of buying alone, more young people are turning to friends and siblings to help them on to the property ladder.
For friends Nathan and Alex, both 29, buying together was the difference between homeownership being impossible and achievable.
The pair finalised a property in Bristol in May last year, paying £279,000 for what was marketed as a three-bedroom house but is effectively a two-bedroom home with a small office.

Nathan contributed £8,500 towards the deposit, while Alex put in £26,500, leaving them with a £244,000 mortgage at a rate of 4.25 per cent.
