TOKYO, June 24. /TASS/. The specialists of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) will eventually begin inspections of Iran’s nuclear sites, the corresponding clause is embodied in the Memorandum of Understanding between the US and Iran, IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi said.
Grossi visited the Japanese nuclear power plant "Fukushima-1", where the process of dumping purified water into the ocean continues.
"A Memorandum of Understanding, signed by both presidents, says explicitly that the nuclear activities that are going to be carried out concerning the nuclear material facilities will be supervised by the IAEA," the AP agency quoted Grossi as saying. He added: "Obviously, to do that, we will have to inspect. Whether this happens the day after tomorrow or in one week or in 10 days, it’s important, but not essential."
Previously the US and Iran signed the Memorandum of Understanding that implies immediate ceasefire on all the fronts, including Lebanon. From June 21 to June 22, the US-Iran negotiations were held at the Swiss resort in Burgenstock with Qatar and Pakistan as the mediators in the implementation of the Memorandum. Afterwards Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmail Baghaei stated that Tehran did not discuss with the IAEA new inspections on their nuclear sites.
