The United Kingdom has issued a warning regarding potential protests and disruptions in South Africa on June 30, following calls from civic organisations for illegal immigrants to self-deport

The United Kingdom has issued a warning of protests and possible disruptions on and around June 30.

This comes following a call by March and March and other civic organisations for illegal immigrants to leave South Africa by the end of June.

According to the advisory, there are regular protests and demonstrations in South Africa that can turn violent at short notice.

"There has been an increase in xenophobic and anti-immigration marches and violence, primarily but not exclusively targeting African immigrants and those perceived to be African immigrants. Some organisations have proposed June,30, 2026, as a day of national shutdown linked to this sentiment," the advisory read.
