A North Korean soldier who crossed the border into South Korea on Tuesday evening has been taken into custody, South Korea’s military revealed Wednesday. South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said that relevant authorities were investigating the details of the incident. The soldier, who reportedly crossed the border near Cheorwon, Gangwon Province, is said to have expressed an intent to defect.This marks the second soldier and fourth North Korean overall to defect to the South since Lee Jae Myung took office last year.
