A group of Chinese developers has filed a competition complaint against Apple, claiming the company failed to fulfill a promise to bring the lowest available App Store commission rates to the country.
The complaint calls for China’s State Administration for Market Regulation to investigate and penalise Apple for “abusing the company’s market dominance” to implement “unfair and excessively high” costs for Chinese developers, according to a letter published by one of the 48 developers, Tian Junwei, on his WeChat blog.
The action comes after Apple last week lowered its commissions in Brazil to 10 percent to 21 percent of transactions, with an additional 5 percent processing fee, from up to 30 percent.
