The government yesterday launched the Online Pension Tracking and Management System (OPTMS) to pilot it initially at the Ministry of Public Administration for regular pension cases of in-service employees, said a finance ministry official. The system will be gradually expanded to the Finance Division, the Controller General of Accounts, all ministries, attached departments and field offices.According to a press release, the system will allow government employees to submit pension applications online, track files in real time and complete the pre-pension process without repeated office visits. It will draw service records and financial data from iBAS++, reducing manual entry and processing errors. Employees will receive SMS notifications around 11 months before post-retirement leave.State Minister for Public Administration and Food Md Abdul Bari inaugurated a workshop on OPTMS at the Secretariat in Dhaka, where he said the system would remove the long-standing suffering of pensioners and strengthen transparency and accountability in public service delivery.“If service seekers can receive services online without physically visiting government offices, it becomes a strong tool for reducing corruption,” he said.Finance Division Secretary Md Khairuzzaman Mozumder said OPTMS would boost pensioners' confidence by ensuring hassle-free services. He also called for a One Rank One Pension policy to reduce financial disparities among retirees. The workshop was chaired by Md Ehsanul Hoque, senior secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration, and organised under the Strengthening Public Financial Management Program to Enable Service Delivery (SPFMS) of the Finance Division.
