Thai Airways International Plc (Thai) has announced the addition of a Boeing 787-9 aircraft to its fleet as part of an ongoing strategy to enhance operational efficiency, strengthen long-haul services and accommodate growing travel demand. The national carrier took delivery of the aircraft on Monday and plans to add a total of four Boeing 787-9 aircraft to its fleet within 2026.
Chai Eamsiri, Thai chief executive officer, said on Wednesday the acquisition marks another milestone in the airline's fleet modernisation programme.
“The addition of a Boeing 787-9 represents another significant milestone for Thai Airways as we continue to strengthen our fleet with modern, efficient aircraft that meet evolving market demand,'' said Mr Chai.
Increasing the number of aircraft of the same model would improve fleet commonality, operational flexibility and network efficiency, enabling the airline to better serve high-potential routes and support future growth, said the Thai CEO.
