The Philippine National Police – Criminal Investigation and Detection Group visited the Dipaculao, Aurora resort to reconstruct the “crime scene” in the fatal drowning of two Ateneo de Manila University student-athletes, Rene Baterbonia and Divine Adili.

MANILA, Philippines — Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said 10 or 11 personnel of the Ateneo de Manila University may face complaints over the fatal drowning of basketball players Rene Baterbonia and Divine Adili.

“If there’s a death, is there criminal liability, whether negligence or leading to a violation of the Anti-Hazing Law? Well, if the investigation leads us there,” Nartatez told reporters in a chance interview at Camp Crame on Wednesday.

“Simply put, we have a case. And it’s up to the prosecution to file a case. On our end, we will forward or refer these records of investigation to the prosecution, and they will prosecute,” he added.
