Daniel Muñoz scored the opening goal in Colombia’s 3-1 victory over Uzbekistan on June 17 at Estadio Azteca during the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The Colombian right-back’s first-half flick goal, assisted by Luis Díaz, set the tone for a dominant Colombian performance in their tournament opener in Mexico City.

Díaz doubled Colombia’s lead in the 65th minute. Campaz then sealed the result with a stoppage-time goal to make it 3-1, with Fayzullaev scoring Uzbekistan’s consolation.

The Michelob ULTRA Superior Player of the Match award was given to Luis Díaz, not Muñoz, despite the right-back’s standout contribution. Michelob ULTRA sponsors the award at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Born on May 25, 1996, Muñoz plays as a right-back for Crystal Palace in the English Premier League. He carries an overall rating of 81 in EA SPORTS FC 26.

Muñoz represented Colombia in both the 2021 and 2024 Copa América tournaments. The 2024 edition saw Colombia advance all the way to the final, where they finished as runners-up.
