Following their guilty pleas, the court found them guilty as charged and proceeded to sentence each of them to three months in prison.
A Magistrate Court sitting in Bolade, Oshodi, Lagos State, has convicted and sentenced 13 individuals to three months’ imprisonment each for offences related to the indiscriminate dumping of refuse in violation of the state’s environmental sanitation laws.
The convictions followed the defendants’ arraignment before the court on charges bordering on improper waste disposal and actions deemed contrary to environmental regulations established to maintain cleanliness and public health across the state.
The defendants, identified as Jamiu Abdulkareem, Nwosu Martin, Abduljamiu Wasiu, Habeeb Muhammed, Kolawole Elijah, Anum Musa, Adeniyi Jamiu, Taiwo Olaniyi, Ali Muhammed, Paul Yaya, Damilare Adebowale, Ojo Fatai and Abah Musa, were brought before the court after being apprehended for offences linked to the indiscriminate dumping of refuse.
During the proceedings, all 13 defendants pleaded guilty to the charges preferred against them by the prosecution.
