In order to ensure speedy and effective redressal of public grievances, Director General of Police/Head of Police Force (HoPF) Mahesh Kumar Aggarwal has issued instructions to all police officers to conduct ‘Open Grievance Day’ every Wednesday and Saturday for 2 hours from 11 am to 1 pm.In addition to public approaching police officials at any time, instructions have been issued that officers of the rank of Station House Officers (SHOs), Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs), Superintendents of Police (SPs), Deputy Inspector Generals of Police (DIGs), Inspector Generals of Police (IGs) and Commissioners of Police in cities shall remain available in their office during this period and address the grievance of any public approaching police officials.Mr. Aggarwal said instructions have also been issued to ensure courteous treatment and prompt redressal of the grievances in a time-bound manner. This has been introduced to avoid people waiting to meet the officers, as the police officials attend to various duties like conducting investigation, attending courts, meetings, law and order bandobust duties. The officers have been instructed to make efforts to be present during the designated time and in case of any urgency, they shall depute officers next in command to attend the public grievance meeting. Further, the performance of officers in this regard shall be monitored by the Police Headquarters, said the DGP. Published - June 24, 2026 12:35 am IST
