Actor Vlado Kobielsky has drawn fresh attention to the lack of a 24-hour pharmacy in Bratislava after criticising the situation in a video posted on social media.
Kobielsky highlighted the experience of parents who take a sick child to an emergency department late in the evening and then have only minutes to collect prescribed medicines before pharmacies close at 22:00.
“You arrive at emergency care at 21:30, hope your child is examined in time, and then run to the pharmacy at 21:59, grateful if you make it,” he said. “I simply don’t understand it.”
His comments prompted many social media users to share similar experiences of searching for medicines during the night or on public holidays, bringing renewed attention to an issue that healthcare professionals, pharmacists and patient groups have raised for several years.
