Russia's Arctic Northern Sea Route (NSR) shipments reached 14.5 million tons between January and May this year, marking a 13% increase over the same period last year. But while LNG started flowing east via the direct route to Asia earlier than usual this year, crude shipments have not yet gotten going, and uncertainty remains as to whether year-end figures will match last year’s levels.
