Ukraine is calling on the parliaments of member states not to delay the completion of domestic procedures and the ratification of documents regarding the establishment of the Special Tribunal for the Crime of Aggression against Ukraine, as work on the practical launch of the institution is already moving into the stage of determining its location.
Mykola Tochytskyi, Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the Council of Europe, said this in a comment to Ukrinform.
“Today, I will be speaking at a joint meeting of the Council of Europe’s Committee of Ministers and the PACE Bureau, where the results of the ministerial meeting in Chisinau will be discussed. And one of the main subjects will be precisely the need to accelerate the ratification of documents related to the establishment of the tribunal. I will urge parliamentarians not to delay internal procedures and the ratification process,” Tochytskyi said.
He noted that during the meeting in Chisinau, 36 states and the European Union supported establishing the Special Tribunal. Ukraine is currently working to expand the circle of participants in this agreement.
“Among countries outside the Council of Europe and the European Union, there are two states that have supported the process—one Latin American country and Australia. Of course, since Chisinau, our advocacy efforts to involve other countries have not stopped for a single moment. We know that several other North American countries are on the way,” he added.
