On June 19, 2026, Geely Galaxy officially entered the Nigerian market through a landmark partnership with TIM Motors. The launch event in Lagos, themed “Powering the Future”, introduced three models — the EX5 EM-i, EX5, and EX2 — each tailored to meet the diverse needs of Nigerian consumers. This move represents more than just new cars; it signals a transformation in how Nigerians will experience mobility.

The introduction of Geely Galaxy Auto into Nigeria can be described as the beginning of the journey towards the fulfilment of what has been a vision of the General Manager of the Passenger Vehicle Business Unit at TIM International, Leon Zhan. That vision has been to replace the overwhelming dominance of used cars in Nigeria with new, reliable and affordable ones.

According to Zhan, upon arrival in Nigeria some years ago, he noticed that the country’s auto market has been dominated by used, accidented American cars imported from abroad. These vehicles, he noted, often come with hidden faults, high maintenance costs, and safety risks. It was upon a desire to change this situation that he led TIM Motors to aim towards offering brand-new, affordable, and technology-savvy Chinese cars that are built for Nigerian roads and infrastructure.
