More than 20 badly treated dogs — some with open wounds, eye infections and contagious skin conditions — are being nursed back to health after they were found abandoned in Hamilton and neighbouring regions last week.

Ladybird Animal Sanctuary, an animal rescue operating in the Hamilton area, said 13 “severely neglected” Shih Tzus were brought to Hamilton Animal Services after they were found roaming in fields in the Flamborough area near Concessions 6 and 10 and Kirkwall and Safari roads between June 16 and 19.
