File photoMumbai: Star Health has started using its AI-enabled application ATOM PRO as a digital advisor for agents, aiming to improve policy explanation, speed up issuance, and streamline claims processing. The company is targeting 50% of its claims to be settled using AI in two years.According to the company, the new platform shifts focus from backend complexity to customer-facing clarity, even though it operates on the agent’s device. The application acts as a real-time support tool during policy sales. It lays out product features, premium details, riders, and waiting periods on screen, reducing ambiguity at the point of sale. This addresses a persistent concern among buyers about hidden clauses such as sub-limits or exclusions that typically surface only at the time of claims. By clarifying coverage upfront, the platform aims to reduce disputes arising from misinterpretation.“For customers, buying health insurance should not feel complex or time-consuming. They should be able to understand what a plan offers, compare relevant options, know the waiting periods and see accurate pricing before making a decision. ATOM PRO is helping our agents bring that clarity and speed into the purchase journey, while enabling to serve customers with greater confidence,” said Anand Roy, MD & CEO, Star Health. The rollout has also compressed policy issuance timelines. According to the company, more than 95% of retail policies are now processed digitally, and 80% are issued within five minutes. This replaces a system that earlier relied on paper forms, manual checks, and multi-day underwriting cycles. Buyers can now complete selection, payment, and receive policy documents in a single sitting. The platform’s backend integration extends to claims. Digital reimbursement modules have increased the share of digital claim submissions from 8% to 21%. Agents can upload documents directly, bypassing physical submission processes and reducing delays in claim registration and processing.
