Olivia Rodrigo‘s just announced Daisy Chain Fields Festival is not only donating 100% of its proceeds to charity, but the stacked lineup of all-women artists are also performing for free.
In an interview with Diane Sawyer on “Good Morning America” Tuesday, Rodrigo spoke more in-depth about the festival, which she announced Monday night. The fest, taking place in Irvine, California on Aug. 29, features an eclectic lineup including Chappell Roan, Doechii, Katseye, Mitski, the Breeders, Die Spitz, Bikini Kill, Eli, Garbage, Quiet Light, Rachel Chinouriri and Not for Radio. Rodrigo herself will also perform, of course.
“I’m so excited about the lineup. My friend Chappell Roan is going to do it, Doechii, Bikini Kill — Kathleen Hanna is a huge hero of mine,” Rodrigo told Sawyer. “100% of the net proceeds of the festival go to charity, and all the incredible artists who are on the bill are doing it for free for charity, which is just a real testament to their hearts as well as the talent.”
Of the festival’s name, Rodrigo said she “had an image in my head of girls sitting underneath a tree, making their daisy chains or flower crowns or friendship bracelets … I also just like the idea of a daisy chain, that we can all be individual links in this chain that is like, larger than the individual.”
