Jose Mourinho wants to remake Real Madrid’s backline, and he’s apparently starting by picking up the phone. The new Madrid manager has directly contacted Manchester City centre-back Ruben Dias about a potential summer move, according to multiple reports circulating in the transfer window.
There’s a catch, though. Madrid’s interest in Dias is conditional on one of their existing centre-backs departing first.
The deal landscape
Dias, who has been at Manchester City since September 2020, carries a valuation that varies wildly depending on who you ask. Transfermarkt pegs him at around €55M, while other estimates push that figure as high as €90M.
His contract at City runs until June 2029, which gives the English club zero urgency to sell.
