The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has ruled that Ukrposhta CEO Ihor Smilianskyi does not meet professional suitability requirements.
The NBU announced the decision in a release cited by Ukrinform.
“The National Bank of Ukraine has determined that JSC Ukrposhta Director General Ihor Smilianskyi does not meet the professional suitability requirements established for the head of a financial payment services provider. The decision was adopted by the Committee on Supervision and Regulation of Banking Activities, Oversight of Payment Systems,” the release stated.
The regulator said the assessment was launched following supervisory actions by the NBU regarding the company’s activities in 2023–2026. During this period, the National Bank issued several written warnings and fines against Ukrposhta for violations in payment services, financial monitoring, and deficiencies in risk management and internal controls.
