Mr Dhanant said Thailand Post can deploy its extensive network of physical touchpoints to serve the virtual banks.

Thailand Post is planning to provide two core services for three virtual banks next year. The state agency plans to act as a banking agent by leveraging its nationwide reach to serve unserved consumers.

The two services are customer onboarding, which bridges the gap between physical touchpoints and virtual banks' digital platforms, and data analytics to enhance credit-scoring capability.

According to president Dhanant Subhadrabandhu, Thailand Post concluded preliminary discussions with all three virtual banking operators.

Clicx Bank, jointly established by a consortium of Krungthai Bank, Advanced Info Service and PTT Oil and Retail Business, received its virtual banking licence on May 14, becoming the first in the country.
