Franklin Crypto, the newly established digital asset division of Franklin Templeton, has launched following the completion of the firm’s acquisition of 250 Digital, an active crypto investment management firm led by industry veterans Christopher Perkins and Seth Ginns.
250 Digital was established in January after being spun out of CoinFund. The acquisition was first announced in April.
The acquisition includes the 250 Digital investment team and liquid crypto strategies previously managed by CoinFund, with Franklin Templeton also committing capital to these strategies as part of the transaction. The move underscores the firm’s long-term strategy to build institutional infrastructure across the digital asset ecosystem.
Franklin Crypto will be led by Perkins as Head of the division, with Ginns serving as Chief Investment Officer alongside Franklin Templeton Digital Assets veteran Tony Pecore.
The new division will offer actively managed crypto strategies for institutional investors, integrating the acquired investment capabilities with Franklin’s global distribution network and existing digital asset research and risk framework.
