Hon. Yunusa Muhammad Salisu, popularly known as YMS Kawo, has rejected allegations made by his rival, Rakiya Baba Mohammed, over the outcome of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) primary election for the Kaduna State House of Assembly seat representing Kawo Constituency, insisting that he emerged as the valid winner of the exercise.
SaharaReporters had on Sunday published claims by Mohammed, who alleged that despite winning the primary election, there were attempts by party officials to hand over the party’s nomination to Salisu, whom she accused of benefiting from the influence of his father, Dr. Yunusa Tanko, Interim National Coordinator of Obidient Movement Worldwide.
However, in a rebuttal made available to SaharaReporters on Monday, Salisu denied the allegations and accused his opponent of spreading misinformation and of dragging his father’s name into a political contest in which he had no involvement.
