The former presidential hopeful had earlier sparked controversy when, before the announcement of the primary results on May 26, he publicly raised concerns over alleged vote manipulation and irregularities during the exercise.

Former presidential aspirant of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, has said he will not challenge the outcome of the party’s presidential primary in court, despite expressing dissatisfaction with aspects of the process and alleging widespread irregularities during the exercise.

Hayatu-Deen, who contested the ADC presidential ticket won by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, made his position known in a statement released on Monday.

He said that although the outcome of the May 25 primary did not meet his expectations, he had decided against pursuing legal action in the interest of opposition unity and Nigeria’s democratic future.
