The development throws the ADC coalition into fresh turmoil as the opposition party battles internal tensions ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Presidential aspirant of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, has rejected the ongoing presidential primary process of the party, alleging widespread electoral manipulation and irregularities across the country.

Hayatu-Deen announced on Tuesday that he would not attend the official declaration of the ADC presidential primary results, citing alleged large-scale vote rigging and compromised procedures during the exercise.

In a post on his X (formerly Twitter) handle, Hayatu-Deen declared, “I will not be attending the announcement of the ADC Presidential Election Results today.

“I am concerned by reports from across the country of widespread vote rigging, some of which I myself observed, and will therefore be taking advice on my next steps.”
