The Unit Approval Committee (UAC) of MEPZ Special Economic Zone, chaired by Alex Paul Menon, Zonal Development Commissioner, has approved seven new SEZ Units and four Export Oriented Units (EOUs) during June.The approved projects represent a combined investment of ₹710 crore and are projected to generate 15,424 employment opportunities, reinforcing the Tamil Nadu, Andaman & Puducherry (TAP) Region’s position for investment, manufacturing, and export-led growth, says a release.The approved projects includes TKG Taekwang India Pvt establishing a non-leather footwear manufacturing unit at ELCOT SEZ, Tiruchirappalli, with a projected investment of ₹515 crore and employment generation of 13,364 persons.Kinesis Semiconductor Wire Solutions India Pvt Litd will set up operations at MEPZ SEZ, Tambaram, Chennai, with a projected investment of ₹115 crore, generating 123 jobs and strengthening the region’s growing semiconductor and electronics ecosystem, says the release.Published on June 22, 2026
