Ravindra Jadeja: News
Not many players have had to withstand the kind of ridicule Ravindra Jadeja received at the beginning of his career. The prefix ‘sir’ used along with his name by his admirers was once part of a vicious attack on him after his poor performance in the 2009 ICC World T20. However, that did not stop Jadeja from achieving what he set out to do.
Hailing from Saurashtra, Jadeja made his international debut in an ODI against Sri Lanka in 2009. He did not have the best of starts to his international career. If not for skipper MS Dhoni’s support, his career would have never taken off. He made his Test debut against England in 2012.
In an era where Ravichandran Ashwin dominated the Indian spin department, Jadeja not only shared the limelight with him but also outshone him in the process. His contributions as a batsman and his electric presence in the field made him virtually an ‘undroppable’ member of the team. In 2019, he became the fastest left-arm bowler to take 200 Test wickets.
Jadeja’s batting is often underrated. He is the only player with three triple-centuries in Ranji Trophy.
