An Information Technology park will be established at Mettupalayam in Puducherry, Chief Minister N. Rangasamy has said.Speaking at the 40th anniversary celebrations of Avvai Nagar Residents Association, the Chief Minister said the IT Park would come up on an area of 38 acre.A long pending demand, the setting up of the facility would help hundreds of educated youth work in their home territory. The government was also in the process of establishing a Special Economic Zone at Karasur, he said.Mr Rangasamy said since the National Democratic Alliance came to power in the Union Territory in 2021, the government had been working towards job creation and taking steps to improve economic activity in Puducherry. During the first tenure of NDA, the government was able to provide 5,000 jobs to educated youth in various departments. Mr Rangasamy said the Thattanchavady Assembly constituency would soon face by-election after his decision to vacate the seat. He urged people of the constituency to vote in favour of the candidate to be fielded by AINRC.The Chief Minister also inaugurated Closed Circuit Television Cameras established in all the streets of Avvai Nagar.
