Telugu Desam Party (TDP) State general secretary P. Ashok Babu on Monday raised concerns over certain aspects of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, particularly the process of vote mapping, in a letter addressed to Andhra Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer Vivek Yadav.Mr. Ashok Babu said the pre-printed enumeration forms distributed to voters from June 15 were expected to contain details of voters along with vote-mapping information based on 2002 electoral data wherever applicable. However, the forms carried only the latest voter particulars available in the 2025-26 electoral rolls and did not include the 2002 mapping data.He noted that during a meeting convened by the Chief Electoral Officer with representatives of political parties, it had been stated that the mapped information would be pre-filled by Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and printed in the enumeration forms. However, voters across the State received forms containing only current electoral details, with no information relating to vote mapping.Mr. Ashok Babu said BLOs were unable to provide the required mapping details to voters while assisting them in filling out the forms. He suggested that BLOs be authorised to capture digital photographs of voters and upload them along with their Elector Photo Identity Card (EPIC) details, as many rural areas lacked photo studios equipped to provide digital photographs. Such a measure, he said, would save time and make the process more convenient for voters. He urged the Election Commission authorities to make the necessary modifications to the software in the interest of voters, adding that a similar system was being followed in Karnataka.
