DMDK general secretary Premallatha Vijayakant said the issue of Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls was being widely discussed in Tamil Nadu. The Election Commission of India should ensure that the SIR exercise was conducted in a proper and smooth manner in Tamil Nadu.

Addressing journalists in Dindigul, she said the ECI should ensure that the SIR exercise was conducted properly so that the eligible voters are able to exercise their universal adult franchise in the upcoming Assembly Elections in Tamil Nadu. No one can take away the voting rights of a person, she added.

She said the ruling DMK in Tamil Nadu has been claiming that over 90% of its poll promises have been fulfilled. They can claim they have fulfilled the poll promises. However, the DMK has failed to implement their poll promises. The opposition and the people were aware of it, she said.

Ms. Premallatha said the alliance which the DMDK would be a part of will sweep the upcoming Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu in 2026. Every party believes that they will perform well in the elections. There was nothing wrong in it, she added.

To a query on the plight of the farmers in Tamil Nadu who have raised several complaints regarding the procurement system in the State, she said the moisture content limit should be increased.
