The next era of Campaign US begins this month with new leadership at the top of the newsroom. Effective June 30, Emmy Liederman will join the Campaign newsroom as managing editor. Liederman has spent her entire professional career covering advertising, media and marketing. Previously, she held an analyst role at Emarketer with a focus on influencer marketing and the creator economy. Prior to that, Liederman ran the branded content newsroom for #paid, a company that vetted creators and matched them with brands.Liederman began her career at Adweek covering commerce and ad agencies.“Emmy has demonstrated over the course of her career the innate ability to grasp a complicated topic and masterfully report on it,” said Jameson Fleming, editorial director of MM+M and Campaign. “She’s a well-rounded journalist who understands each segment of the industry Campaign covers, and more importantly, she understands how they all connect together.”Liederman will report to Fleming, who recently joined the publication in a dual role overseeing Campaign and MM+M. “As managing editor of Campaign, I’m excited to lead a newsroom that understands business journalism doesn’t have to be impersonal,” Liederman said. “Campaign has a high standard for reporting, which keeps marketers informed while holding them accountable. I’m looking forward to maintaining that balance and expanding Campaign’s scope of coverage to serve even more of the industry. Campaign reporters are true subject matter experts who clearly listen to their readers, and I can’t wait to work with them.”Campaign has also elevated Cecilia Garzella to deputy editor from her role as data journalist. Garzella will help manage the day-to-day operations of the newsroom. “Even before we were working together on Campaign, Cecilia impressed me with her poise and writing,” Fleming said. “Now that I’ve joined Campaign, I’ve seen first-hand how strong of a journalist she is and how curious she is about the industry we cover. Campaign is in fantastic hands with Emmy and Cecilia.”“It’s been a privilege to grow here as a journalist, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to step into the deputy editor role,” Garzella said. “I’m excited to work even more closely with our team in this new capacity and help build on the momentum we’ve created together. There’s a lot to look forward to, and I’m optimistic about what’s ahead for the brand.” Leslie Blount, senior reporter for brand marketing and creativity, Emma Thumann, agencies reporter, and Julia Walker, who covers the creator economy and PR for PRWeek and Campaign, round out the Campaign US team.
