The Problem

Digital sovereignty ? the ability of individuals, organizations, and nations to control their own digital infrastructure and data ? has eroded significantly in the past two decades as communication platforms have consolidated under the control of a small number of technology corporations. This paper examines the concept of digital sovereignty through the lens of self-hosted infrastructure, presenting Libern as a case study in sovereignty-preserving communication technology.
