An email sent to an office inside the Udupi Court Complex, claiming that a bomb had been placed on the court premises, turned out to be a hoax on Monday, the Udupi police said.Police, in a statement, said that the Chief Administrative Officer of District Court Udupi opened the email on arriving at the office on Monday. The mail, sent on Sunday evening, claimed that a bomb had been placed in the court complex. He immediately alerted the police.A dog squad and a bomb disposal squad, along with Udupi Deputy Superintendent of Police K.U. Belliappa, Inspector Mahesh Prasad and Sub-Inspector Bharatesh Kankanwadi, searched the court premises.After a thorough search, they found the email to be a hoax message. Following this, court proceedings were allowed to continue. A case has been registered against the sender at Udupi City Police Station under Sections 351(4) and 353(1)(b) of the BNS.
