Residents of Ewatto in Edo State, South-South Nigeria, have cried out over the absence of clean water in their community.

According to residents, they have endured years without access to clean water, forcing them to rely on water collected from pits and rainfall. Multiple residents who spoke to SaharaReporters said the situation has posed serious health risks, particularly to children and the elderly.

A resident who spoke on condition of anonymity narrated how his parents were rushed to the hospital after falling critically ill, only to be told that the water they consumed had nearly cost them their lives.
